Punch Brothers bring progressive bluegrass to Warner Theatre on Nov 6

Chris Thile's five-piece acoustic band plays the 513 13th St. NW room on a November tour that swings through Carnegie Hall and Keswick Theatre in the days before.

Punch Brothers play Warner Theatre on Friday, November 6, at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7. The Brooklyn-based quintet, led by mandolinist and MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile, comes to the 13th Street room as part of a fall run that hits Carnegie Hall on November 4 and Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania on November 5. Tickets start around $49 through Live Nation.

Punch Brothers formed in 2006 and have spent two decades stretching acoustic string-band music into places it rarely goes: through Stravinsky, through Reich, through whatever Thile decides to throw at a bandmate during rehearsal. Their live shows tend to run long and unpredictable, which is either a feature or a bug depending on how early you need to catch the Metro.

The Warner is at 513 13th St. NW, a short walk from Metro Center. The Warner box office can be reached at the email listed on their site, and premium seating inquiries go to Maryclaire Griffin at 202-626-8255.
